Musings

It’s funny how the ‘inspiration for writing’ strikes at the most inopportune of times. Often at a position of disadvantage, the writer finds himself at a loss for action, physically going on about his work, while a lilting melody sails through the oceans of artistry in the heart… 😉

One more poem, one more musing, another trifling thought, from a silly heart…

By the brook near the tree

The boy sat

Quietly, watching the little pouches of water

Emptying themselves into the stream.

He wished to do the same,

For in his mind was mayhem

Thousands of thought, rushing by,

Like the rivulet gushing by.

By the meandering rivulets

The boy sat,

Skipping stone after stone,

Into the great waters afore.

Searching for succour.

There came by another Lilliput,

The brother of the boy.

Happy silence was shared

Eyes, came to an understanding…

Sometimes you don’t say things,

Sometimes, nothing needs to be said.

He wasn’t given an answer,

Answers, he did not seek.

Sometimes all you need is people,

To have a hearty laugh with.

Sometimes all you need is a person,

With an understanding heart.

Life isn’t always fair,

You aren’t always in tune,

But if you have a company

Who will just, sing along

The journey becomes easy, the miles can be clocked.

Sorting Out

Divided into compartments. Each

Containing a bit.

Seemingly different. Decisions

Bound though, to the next.

Previous somehow inspiring the next. Calm

The mind is anything but that.

Childish and impulsive, Words

That often set off moods unbeknownst,

A potpourri of emotions. The mind sways.

Decisions, those that never come easy.

That promise of tomorrow that keeps

the now going

love thy life, for today comes. And goes

away tomorrow.

Decisions many, that need much thought,

It all finally comes to a naught!

CHOICES

A decision, taken with a heavy heart…

For the better or for the worse

Oh, how much my heart flounders!

Trembles as it seeks to weigh choices alluring…

But a stance has to be taken,

Though with a heavy heart.

A falling leaf does not know, to land or to flutter

Yet it must trust, on the wind that carries it.

The leaf in the soil, the heart in its bonds;

Alike, yet different.

For one must do what force bids it to,

The other must learn to risk and live,

Frail, both.

In Deep Contemplation – Memories of Tomorrow

Image

In deep contemplation, the whole night I lay,

Thinking, of the things left unsaid.

And the things that need saying…

Dear ones shouldn’t be kept in the dark, they say.

Sleep evades me, as I wait, for the inevitable tomorrow.

Fear shrouds me, in part,

Mingled with the uncertainty,

The things that are to be…

Terror, the pain, that long occupied my heart,

I see, in your eyes, have they made a sojourn.

Trust me mom, it will all be long past,

The hurt, the pain will go away,

Leaving in its memory, only the tears of yesterday.

Another day will dawn,

The moon will again shine,

Proud we will stand, one day.

Life it is, it throws a googly,

Often when least expected,

But deep within is a bundle of courage,

That we must dig out,

And relish, in the succour that wisdom provides.

Oh mom, do not worry,

Your baby will be fine,

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls…..

Song of the Heart

(P.S. This be one of my 1st attempts at poetry writing. All the poets and non-poets alike, please pardon me!)

So softly did the river flow,

Smooth, in its unwavering path…

So silently did the wind blow,

Unruffled, through the meadows below…

It was a song that came out of his heart

Lyrical, carefree, but with a tinge of gloom.

It spoke of the battles of a lovelorn heart,

It spoke about the Vikings of the past,

It sang about the willowy fields yonder,

It dreamed of a surreal past…

Long forgotten tales,

Of dedication, sacrifice, love,

It sang to the boy,

Making him smile,

Through tears of joy.

As he looked yonder,

At the beauty ahead,

The willowy fields, the muttering trees

A falcon mounted up in the sky,

Its eyes telling tales of joy

Now all was fun, now all was glee,

Even though the wind blew silently.

To the boy’s heart it sung a song,

A tale of love, a tale of life.
